Attorneys
The United States has more than 856 attorneys, according to the latest figures from the Department of Justice. That is an increase of more than 25% since 2000. These attorneys work in all types of areas, from criminal cases to family law and corporate law.
Territories
In addition to the mainland United States, US attorneys also serve in US territories, such as Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and American Samoa. These attorneys handle a wide variety of legal issues, including criminal and civil matters, as well as issues related to immigration and national security.
Percentage of US Population
Attorneys make up a small percentage of the US population, with only 0.3 percent of the US population being attorneys. This figure has remained relatively stable over the past few decades. This is due to the fact that the number of attorneys has increased more slowly than the overall population.
Prosecutors
In the United States, prosecutors are responsible for bringing criminal charges against individuals who have been accused of a crime. These attorneys work with law enforcement and the courts to ensure that justice is served. There are more than 8,500 prosecutors across the nation, and they are responsible for prosecuting a wide variety of criminal cases, from drug possession to murder.
